TEMPLE OF THE TORN

I first had the idea for 'Temple of the Torn' in 2016 when my wife linked me to a call for short stories to be considered for publication in a new anthology. The stories were to be set in the Biblical lands of Nod or Eden, as I recall. Sadly I was in the middle of another project and by the time we saw the call for submissions there were only 48 hours left before the submission window closed. I simply didn't have time, but I did have an idea.

The idea was to write a Dark-Fantasy tale set in the Biblical land of Nod in which 3 friends, merchants from Eden, would discover a very sinister plot.

The story begins with Haran and his collogues in an abandoned village in Nod, confused as to what is going on. This is not the first village they have encountered since coming here that is devoid of life, in fact, they haven't found anyone alive or dead, since they arrived. As the story unfolds we encounter 'The Torn', twisted and mutated remnants of the inhabitants of western Nod and we begin to learn what happened to them.

The story was published in the OMNI webzine in January of 2016. Accepted on the first pass, without revision, 'Temple of the Torn' was my first piece of work to be published by OMNI.
